Blog Entry 59 of 82 The Happening

Steve Shultz here. I am the YourHub.com community journalist representing the vast and sunny land known as Highlands Ranch. My blog will present a quick synopsis of the hip, and maybe not so hip, happenings in Highlands Ranch and all the great photos and stories posted by residents just like you. Every now and again, I will rant and rave about what deeply interests me, and ask for your personal feedback. We like to be personal here at YourHub.com - YourHub.com is not just some nameless, faceless ghost.

We took Prahlad to his 2-month checkup May 16. He now weighs 12 pounds 6 ounces and is 23 ½ inches long. His head measures 15 ½ inches. No additional medical news to report now, other than he is doing just great.

Newest milestone: Prahlad rolled over for the first time May 8! That's pretty amazing, considering I've read that most babies generally don't roll over until their forth month, on average. We had him doing some "tummy time" on a quilt on the floor. I looked over at him and he was sort of resting on his arm. I look away for a second, and, when I looked back, he was completely on his back! He hasn't done it since, though.

He held his first toy, a wooden rattle, on his own May 14, his 2-month-old birthday.

And he has a new hobby: thumb sucking. He's been sucking his thumb for a couple weeks now, and sucks himself to sleep. It's so cute!

He is still smiling like crazy. Every morning, I try to get at least one smile out of him before I have to leave for the day. Every once in a while we'll get a tiny laugh out of him. He is becoming more and more vocal every day.

I'll keep you all posted when anything "big" happens.

Prahlad and Brendan must know something I don't. I'm 300 months old, and not once have I rolled over correctly. Steve, your son's looking healthy and gorgeous. Congrats once again.

I love photos No. 5 and 10. No. 5 because he looks like a little boxer and No. 10 because his eyes look all crazy. He's cute. Too cute.

Karin, I totally agree. I'd rather have him suck his thumb than on a pacifier. Besides, he has a hard time keeping one in his mouth.

One of mine rolled over within 24 hours of birth. Another was almost seven months. I guess that makes four months our household average. Also, I think the thumb is preferable to the pacifier. Self-comforting behavior is a gift to parents.

I'm pretty sure I rolled over way before my fourth month, too.
