Blog Entry 61 of 82 The Happening

Steve Shultz here. I am the YourHub.com community journalist representing the vast and sunny land known as Highlands Ranch. My blog will present a quick synopsis of the hip, and maybe not so hip, happenings in Highlands Ranch and all the great photos and stories posted by residents just like you. Every now and again, I will rant and rave about what deeply interests me, and ask for your personal feedback. We like to be personal here at YourHub.com - YourHub.com is not just some nameless, faceless ghost.

3 months/My first Father's Day
Contributed by: Steve Shultz/YourHub.com   on 6/21/2007

I can't believe my son is 3 months old already.

He is growing so fast. I'm not sure of his exact weight since we don't take him in for a checkup again until next month, but he certainly is chubbing up.

I believe he has accomplished a lot during this last month: he has rolled over several more times; he rolled over from his back to his stomach for the first time; he can hold things now; he transferred a toy from one hand to the other; he puts things in his mouth; and he is becoming more and more vocal every day.

He sucks his thumb like crazy. He does this adorable thing where he sucks his left thumb and holds his right ear with his right hand when he's on the verge of sleep.

He still is sleeping soundly through the night. In fact, last night (June 20) he went to sleep at about 6 p.m. and slept straight through the early morning. I guess all the growth spurts are making him extra sleepy.

It was fun celebrating my first Father's Day. We spent the afternoon at my parents' house, and my grandpa, sister, brother-in-law and niece all were there. My dad (and mom, too) had a wonderful time holding and playing with Prahlad and Gianna.

Melinda and I bought this handprint kit for my dad. Melinda smoothed out the clay and we pressed Prahlad's little hands in there and wrote his name in it. The other half of the frame holds a picture. My dad loved it. And he got a great gift from Carrie and Tom, too: a custom mouse pad of photos of Gianna.

Yeah, the "solid food" photos should be great.

Definitely fewer "angry" photos than from your "First Time for Everything" entry. I love "fell asleep in the high chair" shots. I still get "fell asleep in a hotel restaurant" shots while on vacation. Also, when Prahlad starts solid food, I expect a "spaghetti face" photo.

Steve! These are such great photos! You and Melinda gave your father a wonderful gift, too, by the sound of it.
