Joe McDaniel missing from Punky Memorial Coffee
Contributed by: Brendan Leonard/YourHub.com   on 11/17/2006

At the first annual Punky The Pumpkin Plant Memorial Coffee yesterday at the Highlands Ranch Village Inn, it didn't occur to any of the YourHub.com bloggers present that Joe McDaniel wasn't coming. One by one, we all arrived, asking, "Where's Joe?"

Of course, Joe had never e-mailed or otherwise communicated to anyone that he was coming, but for some reason, we all thought he'd be there. We still had a great time, covering topics from why Castle Pines shouldn't become a city to what Bill Boucher wears under his kilt ("lipstick"). We remained nearly civilized for the entire gathering, a fitting tribute to the little pumpkin plant that could (for a while, anyway; then it died).

Rest in peace, Punky.

And Joe, next Nov. 15, be at the Village Inn at C-470 and Broadway at 10 a.m.

Punky's existence had a purpose, even if he didn't make pie nirvana.

It was not a solemn occasion, and that's the way Punky would have wanted it. It was more a celebration of his short little life than a memorial. Joe, we missed ya. Can't you make it up to us somehow?

Joe please forgive me. I may even do a private dance for you if you do. We could even get some cigars and play intern.
