Driving to work today I heard a radio commercial from
Allstate Insurance
promoting its "Green" message. Apparently if you switch to Allstate some money gets donated to some
dot-org
that provides carbon offsets. Buy insurance and save the planet. Far out. Carbon offsets are what
Al Gore
uses to justify his green message and living in a mansion at the same time. I begrudge him neither, just the hypocracy. This whole "Green" thing reminds me of the
Atkins Diet
a few years ago. The lo-carb diet was all the rage and you couldn't go into a restaurant without a sign on the window, or logo on the menu featuring an item that was Atkins-friendly. The diet wasn't a fraud, it was just a fad. And faded away. Although many thought the diet was just plain dangerous. So today, "Green" is all the rage. I wonder for how long? Fact, fad, fantasy or a combination of all?
