Blog Entry 183 of 366 I'm Brian Olson and I approved this Blog.
Politics to life in general, a view from a slightly right of center/off-kilter guy.

We're here, we're near-get used to it.

When I weekend at our mountain home, I always drive into Westcliffe Saturday evening for dinner. For a town of 500 it's got some pretty terrific choices.

As I was heading along road from Rosita, there coming in the opposite direction were 3 women from the Warren Jeffs polygamy sect on bicycles. The long blue dresses made them hard to miss. They were all riding old-fashioned bikes, more like Beaver Cleaver used to ride rather than the high-tech bikes I see so many other reacreational bicyclists riding during the summer up in the mountains.

No helmets either, not sure if that's a sect rule or not. MIght be tough on the mandated upswept hair styles.

As I've blogged before, the polygamists have bought up at $2-million worth of homes and property in and around Westcliffe including one very large size home that has about 40-50 men, and abused women and children living there.

It's no wonder they are buying up land not only in Westcliffe, but also nearby Cotapaxi and further west in Durango.

I believe a whole bunch of them are about to move from Texas. Here's what Texas Governor Rick Perry had to say to them:

"Maybe Texas is not the place you need to consider calling home."

And the provisions for the sect to get their kids back includes regular inspection visits from Texas Child Welfare officials, whichwill not go well with sect members.

So hundreds of them will stop messing with Texas and head north to friendly Colorado. Where a handful of men will marry a bunch of women, reduce them to brood mare status and of course, abuse the children as well.

Soon Colorado will become the polygamy capital of the United States.

I don't like polygamy, I don't understand it, but I don't like blanket statements of alleged child abuse, either.
