Politics to life in general, a view from a slightly right of center/off-kilter guy.

Friday Beefs and Bouquets
Contributed by: Brian Olson   on 6/27/2008

We'll take off with bouquets to Frontier Airlines and Southwest Airlines. Frontier is fighting hard to survive but still remains my first choice to fly. Long as you're flying, I'll fly with you.

Southwest gets kudos simply because they're the smartest in the aviation business. I haven't flown them since the 80's but if everyone was half as smart as Southwest, things would be a lot better.

Another bouquet and lots of Emmy awards (if I could vote) to KUSA's Drew Soicher for one of the most heart warming stories I've ever seen. It was about a young boy who had some incredible leg surgery, and is surviving and thriving in sports and life despite tough odds. Soicher is not your traditional "Player-Coach" interview kinds of sports guy. Thank goodness there's at least one.

Ok, our first beef this friday plus any book on ethics to Senator Chris Dodd. This Connecticut Yahoo is sponsoring the Housing Bill aka sodomy legislation that will bail out, among other stupid bankers, the folks that gave him a "VIP" house loan. Dodd was told it was a "VIP" loan which should have set off all sorts of ethics alarm bells. I guess he's deaf. Dodd is either just plain stupid or highly un-ethical. Personally I think he's both.

A full side of beef to Senate Majority LeaderHarry Reid of Nevada. He's quietly trying to get term limits in his state overturned, despite those rules being voted on by the people of Nevada and upheld by the the courts in his state. Reid is just a plain political weenie and poster boy why we should have term limits in the first place.

We have a few more bouquest left today, in fact I'll send a couple of them to the disorganizers of the DNC here in Denver. Thanks for such great blog material and all the laughs. I know there is much more to come!

Another bouquet to one of the protest groups that will be messing things up during the convention. As a PR Pro I tip my hat to "Tent State University" for not only a brilliant name for the group playing off Kent State plus they're manipulating the media big-time. Great job folks. That said, hope you enjoy the smell of pepper spray in the morning. And those rubber bullets don't sting too much. But they do leave a mark.

Another bouquet to everyone who rode their bikes to work Wednesday, and in fact, many other days of the week. I'd join you, but I hate those tight shorts.

We'll end with two more bouquets. One to all the drivers who are slowing down and making a concerted efforts to cut back on fuel consumption. I'm one of them, and I'm saving about 1/4 tank of gas a week by using my head instead of my right foot.

And finally the hugest of bouquets to the American peple. Our government, flat out, is letting us down. We are no longer a great country, but we are a country of great people and you can only push us so far. Look out Foggy Bottom, we're going to regain control of the nation. And heads will roll.

As always, a shout out to the gang at FOP Falcon (HOO-AH!) plus Red, Alan, Weldon and the Cat Lady at OB-68.
