Politics to life in general, a view from a slightly right of center/off-kilter guy.

Quick! Hide the homeless!!
Contributed by: Brian Olson   on 7/17/2008

One of the major challenges for each city hosting a political convention is to hide the homeless. Heaven forbid that delegates think even one person in the host city might be down on their luck.

"Will Campaign for Food"

I think in New York they bussed everyone so far away from the convention center that by the time they made their way back, the convention was over and everyone went home.

Here in Denver they're going to send the homeless to the movies and museums. There's even talk about providing free bus service for them. They may be hungry but they'll be entertained. And all the Democrats and media coming to town will think we don't have a homeless problem.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless says it's not hiding the homeless, but educating them and making them part of the experience. My lawyer uncle told me to never say people are liars, but simply to say they are evading the truth. Which is the case here. You are hiding the homeless. Period. Just another DNC scam.

So if the person sitting next to you at the movies, or admiring that Monet has a bad case of body odor or hits you up for spare change, know that you're helping the city's image. It's all part of Hizonner the Lord High Mayor's "New Patriotism."

Thursday Memo:
MillerCoors HQ will be in Chicago. Apparently they didn't want either Golden or Milwaukee to think of themselves as a loser. So they screwed them both.

Take 30 and save a life.
Have you made an appointment to donate blood at Bonfils yet? I haven't mentioned it yet this week, but one of the other benefits besides you'll likely save someone's life is the snacks. They're awesome! And it all takes about 30 minutes every two months.
