Blog Entry 211 of 354 I'm Brian Olson and I approved this Blog.
Politics to life in general, a view from a slightly right of center/off-kilter guy.

Today's blog is brought to you by the letter "N"

Jesse Jackson and Whoopi Goldberg sure love using words they don't want us to use.

This past Thursday on The View, Whoopi Goldberg (I didn't see the show, just reports about it) used the "N" word several times.

This comes on the heels of Jesse Jackson, caught once again with his mic open and brain not working, using the "N" word in reference to Senator Obama. Earlier, Jackson used another "N" word, this time referencing a particular surgical procedure he wanted to do on Senator Obama.

You notice I'm using the term "N word." If I was to actually say it or write it, I'd be pilloried and very likely banned from posting here ever again.

While my 1st Amendment Rights allow me to use it, I choose not to because it's simply an ugly word, with an ugly meaning.

When Don Imus made some very insensitive racial remarks about a woman's basketball team, Jesse Jackson wanted him off the air and condemned him over and over again. Jackson, being a Reverend and all, must have forgotten the scripture about casting the first stone. Because instead of a pocketful of miracles, Jesse has a pocketful of stones.

Yet when Jesse Jackson uses a similar term, about a fellow African American, apparently all he has to do is say he's sorry, and we're expected to move on. And in this case, Jackson was using the term talking about potentially the next President of the United States!

Personally I think Jackson is beyond miffed that it's Obama, and not him as the party nominee. Really miffed.

And another problem with Jackson when he does this sort of thing, is the networks trot out Al Sharpton for comment. Like, there's no one else they can talk to?

Not having seen The View, I have no idea what Whoopi was trying to prove.

What I don't understand, is why Jackson and Goldberg don't want us to use the "N" word, but use it freely themselves?

What the heck is their problem? We have a legitimate candidate for President of the United States who is an African American. Our Secretary of State is an African American. We have African American Astronauts and Pilots. The doctor who took out my kidney stone was an African American. None I recall ever used the "N" word.

But Jesse and Whoopie do. And you have to wonder, why?

Monday Memo:
Governor Bill "Let's make a deal" Ritter and Hizzoner the Lord HIgh Mayor Denver urge us to use mass transit. If it wasn't so absolutely corrupt and mis-managed I might give it a try. Start by firing Cal then get back to me.
