Politics to life in general, a view from a slightly right of center/off-kilter guy.

Friday Beefs and Bouquets
Contributed by: Brian Olson   on 7/25/2008

My continued thanks and bouquets of daisies to the DNC for continued great blog material. The whole gas tax fiasco this week is a perfect example. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Bouquets and kudos to the reporters that uncovered this latest in a long line of DNC scams.

On that note, a beef and a challenge to Nancy Pelois to actually fill up her own dang car, just once, for suggesting President Bush free-up the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. There is NO oil shortage. The reserve is for when we do. And releasing it will do nothing to lower prices. By the way Nancy, which private airport will you be flying your private jet into when you come to Denver for the convention?

A bouquet to Jon Caldera and the folks at the Independence Institute. We need to bring RTD's FasTracks to a halt, re-group, both Cal Marsella and the board of directors should resign out of simple decency. They've failed us horribly. The Big Dig Part Deux. The Edsel for the new millenium.

FasTracks can still eventually move forward, but scaled down to do only what we have money to pay for. NO MORE TAXES. Let's for sure keep the line out to DIA and handle everything else on a case by case basis.

A bouquet and a spot in Canton to Rod Smith. A walk-on who helped win two Superbowls. Rod, you da man! What ever you do in life you will succeed in. How about running for Congress or Senate?

But a beef to Brett Favre. Brett, you handled this miserably. That said, give Mike Shanahan a call. You have a year or two left, love to see you starting for the Broncos.

Staying with the football theme we'll ship a bouquet of yellow roses (It's a Texas thing) to training camps across the country. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL??

We'll toss out a huge chunk of dog meat to Al Gore. Have you seen the pictures of Beijing? Why don't you hop on your private jet and give them holy heck like you do your own country? America is reducing pollution. China is increasing it.

Finally and GIRD YOUR LOINS....a bouquet to, gulp, this is difficult, Senator Harry Reid for comparing polygamy to organized crime. As I've blogged here, Warren Jeff's polygamist cult has been trying to establish a foothold in my other hometown of Westcliffe CO. Townspeople have had enough and look for them to be run out of town one way or the other, sooner than later.

Friday memo:
Do me a favor and read the Left Behind series of books by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins. Do you see any resemblance between the character Nicolae and someone running for President? I got to thinking about it after hearing the speech yesterday in Berlin.

As always a big shout out to everyone at FOP Falcon, the calling cards are on the way. Thanks to everyone at OB68 and GO BOMBERS!
