The Ridden Word
Raised in Indianapolis, but moved to Colorado in 1986 - practically a native. An avid cyclist, wannabe writer and musician, I enjoy a great life with my wife, Dena, and two incredible kids - Katie and Holden. This blog reflects the things that are important, amusing, or frustrating to me. In no particular order; family, music, art, community, travel, the workplace, the great sport of cycling, and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. While I'm convinced that most blogs are merely cathartic and not widely read, I hope the handful of folks who might take a look at my drivel enjoy it. Please feel free to leave a comment or two about what you read!

So what of this thing we call blogging? Why do we feel compelled to write things that no one -or at least relatively few-will read? Catharsis perhaps? The hope of accidental literary fame?
I already have one blog that I feel, well, married to. Launching this one feels sort of like having a mistress. Do I give up my old blog for this one? Do I entertain this one from time to time, but make only a vague commitment? Maybe I'll take my best work from my other blog and duplicate it here. No, that would be cheating myself. I could just post entries that say, "see other blog" and provide the link, but that blog contains material that is a little twisted from time to time. Not in a bad or controversial way, but in a way that might cause a handful of folks to say "Hmph. I'm Never reading
his
stuff again! What a weirdo."
I digress. My other blog has become quite the deal around the office. It is about a little of everything; bikes, my family, oddness in society, and the pitfalls of corporate America. It is so popular at work, in fact, that some individuals have not all that discreetly begun to do or say things in an effort to end up with some noteriety in my blog. "You should be a writer" they tell me. Like the thought had never occurred to me. "Yes", I tell them, "because it's
such
an easy career to just go do. Why, I think I'll just go do that...be a writer!" Yeah, and maybe they can all chip in to pay my mortgage and buy me clothes.
I've been wanting to get my Yourhub blog going for a while now, but writing the occasional article as well as maintaining Blog #1 takes up quitea bit of what little time I have to write. But Iam caving in, and launching this one. What the heck. The world needs more blogs, right?
So here I go. Another blog.
The Ridden Word
. I promise that despite the name, it won't always be about bikes.I hope it provides enjoyment for both of you who read it.
