The Second Wind Fund's annual event is the largest suicide prevention event in the nation with 2,600 participants last year. It offers a FREE BBQ lunch, massages, t-shirts, concerts, kids' activities, and a memorial dove release. The course provides for a 3 mile walk/run/or ride through the Green Mountain neighborhood. Prizes are offered for anyone raising $100 or more in pledges. Major prizes are given to participants raising $1,000 or more. Over 1,200 Colorado youth at risk for suicide have been referred through the program for professional counseling services, thanks to money raised at the event. Register online at www.thesecondwindfund.org, at Barnes & Noble (14347 Colfax Ave, Lakewood) on 9-18-08 from 4-8 pm, at Green Mountain High School on 9-20-08 from 10 am to 2 pm, or on 9-21 before the event beginning at 9:30 am.
