Description:
"Tables Extraordinaire" is a charity event presenting a display of spectacular holiday table settings for your viewing. This event is hosted by the philanthropic ladies of the Saint Catherine Philoptochos Society. It features over 40 lavishly decorated holiday and themed tables. Each table is hosted by one or more ladies from either Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Greenwood Village or Assumption Greek Orthodox Metropolis Cathedral in Denver. These ladies are responsible for coming up with a theme for their table and providing all its decorations. Table themes range from the traditional Christmas reds and greens, to the frozen land where "Frosty" lives, to that night long ago in Bethlehem. Maybe you would like to dine in sunny Hawaii, attend a Mardi Gras party, or have tea with the Tsars. A stroll through this magical table wonderland will inspire you to come up with your own themes to use in your holiday entertaining.
The revenue received from "Tables Extraordinaire" underwrites the many local and national philanthropic ministries undertaken by this chapter. One of its local projects is "Bags for the Homeless." Over 800 bags have been distributed to Denver's homeless. Each bag is filled with personal care products, food items, socks, fast-food gift cards, and other necessities. In addition to the bags, over 100 sleeping bags have already been distributed. The chapter also recently renovated the Champa House, part of the Denver Rescue Mission Organization, and continues to support this facility for single mothers and their children. The Saint Catherine Philoptochos Society is a chapter of the National Philoptochos Society, which means "friends of the poor." Established in 1931, it is the largest philanthropic women's Christian organization in the world.
