Congratulations to Highland Ranch's
Christopher Hill who caught a 13 1/2 lb., 39-inch Muskie Aug. 6, 2006 during the 43rd annual Vilas County Muskie Marathon at Deerskin Lake in Wisconsin.
Hill, a sixth-grader at Powell Middle School, was awarded a tape measure, certificate and pin, assorted lures, fishing hooks, sports paraphernalia, and a book entitled,
Muskie: The Written Word 1892-2003 by
Al Soczka.
Hill, who has been fishing since the tender age of two, vacations in Wisconsin with his family every summer. He hopes to catch an even bigger fish this summer.
His father,
Charles, is also an avid fisherman but has never had the chance to catch a Muskie.
"My dad said I'm lucky because some people try to catch a Muskie their entire lives and never get one," he said.
Christopher appears to be a natural. He caught the Muskie on his first cast.
"I cast my line and saw it in the water," he said. "It was huge and the sun was shining on it. It was really cool!"
Way to go Christopher!
