Highlands Ranch residents who sprain an ankle or get a sore throat have a new option when it comes to health care.
NextCare Urgent Care Clinic, 2050 East County Line Road, held an open house and family celebration June 11 to mark the opening of its new facility.
Visitors were able to tour the clinic, which includes six treatment rooms, two designed specifically for children; an X-ray room and lab.
NextCare is designed to offer walk-in care for all but life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Services include general medical care, occupational medicine, X-ray, lab services, vaccines, school and sports physicals and on-site prescriptions.
The clinic accommodates the overflow of patients who may not be able to see their primary care physician right away, said Becca Modrell, clinic manager.
To maintain a relationship with primary care providers, NextCare sends patients home with a letter describing treatment. If an X-ray was performed, it can be burned to a disc and given to the patient, Modrell said.
With its evening and weekend hours, the clinic is an alternative to emergency rooms, which can have wait times as much as five hours, said Stephen Williams, vice president of branding and sales.
NextCare offers "Wahoo," which stands for "Wait at home or office." Patients can sign in online or via phone, and when an exam room is open for them, the clinic give them a call and holds the room. Once they arrive, they can go immediately to the room, Williams said.
"It's the maximum convenience for customers," he said. "They are busy people with lots of things going on, and we make doctors a lot more accessible to them."
The clinic accepts all major insurance, Medicare and Medicad. For those who do not have insurance, NextCare's cost is significantly less than a hospital ER, Williams said.
The NextCare Clinic in Highlands Ranch is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call 1-800-NEXTCARE.
