Peg Hooper, the manager of the Neighborhood Library at Lone Tree, the bookmobile, and the Castle Pines Library (scheduled to open in September), has resigned from Douglas County Libraries after ten years with the district. Hooper will be the new manager at the Golden Library in Jefferson County. Her last day with the district will be July 24. Hooper says she'll miss her time managing libraries throughout the community, "I have really enjoyed working at DCL, it is a great group of staff and I have learned so much during my time here. It has been great to be a part of the Louviers, Roxborough, Castle Pines, and Lone Tree communities and I hope in some way that I have contributed to those communities. "
Douglas County Libraries Director, Jamie LaRue reflects, "In Peg's time with the district, she has been an innovator: opening a public library in a school meeting room, developing bookmobile routes, designing an innovative storefront (the first to use RFID-based self-check and automated returns), and helping to establish One Roxborough, a community network. I know she'll bring the same forward thinking and conscientious community spirit to Jeffco."
Douglas County Libraries is still in a hiring freeze and is exploring several options for the supervision of the libraries in Lone Tree and Castle Pines.
