Looking for a way to celebrate the 2008 Democratic National Convention's arrival in Denver while immersing yourself in great art? Then you should consider checking out DemsDoDenver.com.
DemsDoDenver.com honors Denver's role as host of the 2008 Democratic National Convention through a series of collectable buttons designed by local artists featuring the symbol of the Democratic Party, a donkey. From a trip down a ski slope to a visit to the Denver Art Museum, each of the buttons show an artistic donkey enjoying one of the many pleasures that make Denver a great place to call home.
DemsDoDenver.com features artists of great talent and achievement. Tracy Weil is the 2006 recipient of the City and County of Denver's Mayor's Design Award in the "Home Is Where the Art Is" category. According to the City and County of Denver's Web site, art receiving this honor reflects an, "extraordinary contribution to the live or work environment."
You can also sample the work of artists such as Bill Amundson, whose work is also in the permanent collection of the Denver Art Museum. Amundson and Weil are two of the many artists who lent their talents to this project.
Inspired by Denver's moment in the political spotlight, local marketing executive and art aficionado Julie Byerlein launched DemsDoDenver.com to promote Denver's art community.
"My first goal in this endeavor is to showcase the wide variety and depth of artists working in Denver, and highlight the vibrant arts scene in town," Byerlein said on DemsDoDenver.com. "In my small way I am helping build Denver's creative identity and enhance their position as an arts destination."
And by donating 10 percent of all sales to the DNC host committee, Byerlein says DemsDoDenver.com is also her small way of helping the event that is showcasing the Mile High City to the world.
DemsDoDenver.com is an approved vendor for the 2008 Democratic National Convention. To check out these whimsical buttons and to learn more about the artists who created them, please visit
