Over 500 Backpacks Donated to DPS Students

The McCormick & Schmick's 6 th Annual Backpack Drive to aid students in the Denver Public Schools was a resounding success thanks to the generosity and spirit of the local community. McCormick's Fish House and Bar in lower downtown and McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant in the Denver Tech Center requested help from the community in giving students a fresh, new start to the school year. The response was overwhelming. Over 500 Brand New, Full Sized, Backpacks were donated as well as dozens of boxes of school supplies!

The recipients of this heartwarming community outreach were Fairview Elementary School, The Math & Science Academy and the DPS Educational Outreach Program. On Wednesday, August 19 th each child at Fairview Elementary and The Math & Science Academy received a new backpack as well as supplies. The additional backpacks collected will be shared throughout the year with DPS children whose families are experiencing the devastating effects of homelessness.
"We send out our sincere thanks to the community and our loyal customers who participated in this project. We also extend our thanks to Seattle Fish Company whose generous donations provided for at least 80 backpacks and supplies", said General Manger Julie Muise.
