ACC’s Faculty of the Year Addresses Graduation

Arapahoe Community College (ACC) will hold its Forty-first Annual Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 10. The graduation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the South Lawn of the campus located at 5900 S Santa Fe Drive in Littleton.

The 2008 graduation address will be delivered by ACC's Faculty of the Year, Jerry Viola. Viola, Chair of the Automotive Technology Program, through a vote of his peers, has been selected 2008 Faculty Member of the Year. Under Jerry's guidance, ACC's Automotive Technology Program now has an inventory of manufacturer-donated automobiles valued at over $1 million. Additionally, the auto program renewed its NATEF certification this year, revived its GM and Chrysler training programs, and added industry-standard criminal and drug testing to its admissions standards, ensuring that its graduates will be qualified to work in the auto industry. Jerry continues to assist areas of the College above and beyond the Auto Tech Program.

ACC's student speaker representative will be Mark Rosen. Mark competed with a variety of other students throughout campus and won the opportunity to address his peers by writing the finest speech. ACC's GED student speaker will be Heather Waters who also qualified to represent the GED students.

ACC's commencement will honor over 1,090 ACC students who earned an Associate degree or certificate from the College during the 2007-2008 academic year. Of these, 260 students will "walk" during the graduation ceremony. In the event of inclement weather, the alternate graduation site is Orchard Road Christian Center at 8081 E. Orchard Rd. (I-25 and Orchard Rd. in Greenwood Village). Should the weather be threatening, graduation participants and guests should call 303.797.5750 or visit www.arapahoe.edu on May 10 to check for an announcement regarding the location of the ceremony. Persons requesting accommodations for disabilities should contact the Disability Services at 303.797.5937.
