Golf tournament to benefit local nonprofits

Through the generosity of RE/MAX International, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce that it once again will host its charity golf tournament at the beautiful Sanctuary golf course.

The "Celebrity Shoot-Out at Sanctuary 2008," benefiting four vital nonprofit organizations that serve our community, will be held June 16.

Back by popular demand, this year's tournament, which is our ninth year at Sanctuary, is again celebrity based whereas each foursome has a celebrity (five-some). Celebrities have are being selected from the Denver Broncos/NFL, the NHL, the Denver Nuggets/NBA, USA Olympians, and radio and television personalities, etc.

The Sanctuary, an amazing private course located at 7549 Daniels Park Road., in the scenic heart of Douglas County, is the vision of RE/MAX International Co-Founder Dave Liniger.

The Sanctuary is a resource like no other, with its wildlife including elk, deer, foxes, coyotes, mountain lions, bobcats, black bears, porcupines, wild turkeys and golden eagles.

In 1997, Sanctuary was voted the best new private course by Golf Digest and in 2007 was again rated in the top 100 courses in the United States at number 73. Through the ongoing generosity of the community, our tournaments have raised over $475,000 for worthwhile nonprofit organizations that benefit Douglas County.

Proceeds from this year's event benefit four non-profit organizations within Douglas County, one of which is the Fallen Officer Fund of Douglas County Foundation. This foundation is a non-profit 501 that assists Law Enforcement staff that are seriously injured and/or killed in the performance of their duties by providing financial support to those members and their families in their time of need and crisis.

Also benefiting are the following nonprofit organizations: The Douglas County Victim Assistance Program, The Douglas County Youth Explorer Program, and The Douglas County Race-A-Cop Youth Scholarship Program.

Player and sponsor opportunities are still available. Entry fee is $750 per player, or a four-some can be purchased for $3,000. Sponsorships start at only $425 and provide sponsors special recognition and valuable public exposure. All fees are payable to the Fallen Officer Fund of Douglas County Foundation, a 501(c) (3) federal taxexempt foundation.

This exciting opportunity to play the private and beautiful Sanctuary is a great value, offering players and sponsors the satisfaction of helping worthy organizations while also participating in a memorable event.
