Heath and fitness is not just about diet and exercise, it's
about the spirit and the declaration of who you are and what you
are about in this world. Centurion Martial Arts students spend
hours training physically. They learn traditional Taekwondo kicks,
punches and forms. They also learn to break boards and spar.
All of those things are important to exercising the total
body and training the mind to focus,be attentive and in the
moment.
However, the most important training is the development of
the spirit--the mind and the will to achieve and contribute in a
positive way. Each student works hard to develop behaviors that
demonstrate the following five tenets of Taekwondo at home, school,
work and in the training center or dojang: Courtesy, Integrity,
Perserverence, Self-Control and Indomitable spirit.
At Centurion Martial Arts, the motto "strength and honor"
reminds students that true accomplishment is not only physical but
emotional, intellectual and social. We train together to help make
each person's daily life better and more fulfilled. This translates
into weight loss without extreme dieting, fitness without
over-training, and friendships, both young and old that can last a
lifetime.
Does it work? One Centurion Martial Arts student lost over
100 pounds, another is improving her sports performance and
flexibility for tennis; one student learned that breaking boards is
more about spirit and perserverence than brute strength.
Centurion Marital Arts is being organized as a nonprofit
501(c)(3) to make the practice of Taekwondo accessible and
affordable to all and reward the efforts of people who practice the
five tenets of Taekwondo.
Let's get fit mentally and physically and make this world a
better place for everyone, student by student. To demonstrate the
integrity of the Taekwondo taught by Centurion Martial Arts, the
structure of the World Taekwondo Federation and the format set by
the Kukkiwon in Seoul, Korea is followed. Classes are taught by
Master Instructors.
Gup ranks White through Red are issued through USA Taekwondo,
the National Governing Body for the USA and Black Belts are issued
through the Kukkiwon.
The tenets are practiced and role modeled by people just like
you who are interesting in making a more peaceful world. For more
