March 9, 2009, Littleton, CO - A unique group has banded together to support and assist each other. Mommy Meeting is an organization that allows mom-owned businesses to benefit from networking meetings, workshops, retreats and other gatherings such as the Momporium Event scheduled for Saturday, March 28 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Aspen Grove Shopping Center.
Originally, Mommy Meeting was formed to reach out to a community that was not being served in the traditional networking venues. Moms try to balance it all - kids, careers, social events, PTA, etc. They need a networking venue where they can share what they know and do with others in a meaningful way - not just passing business cards and making one minute introductions.
What further makes Mommy Meeting unique is moms are encouraged to bring their children to the networking functions. Roxanne Weaver, Founder of Mommy Meeting notes, "There is not a venue out there right now that supports moms with and without a business the way Mommy Meeting does. Not only do we balance our monthly educational topics between parenting and business, we also showcase our moms each month and provide a 'child-friendly', supervised event that they don't have to feel guilty about attending. Why not provide a venue where you can have the best and brightest CEO's of the home come together!"
First time attendees are wowed by the hospitality of other moms. "I just started coming to Mommy Meeting in January and was amazed by the camaraderie of all the moms. I felt so welcome and comfortable, and I made some great connections", says Beth Boen of CreativeXchange Marketing.
In addition to these unique networking events, the Founding Members and Volunteer Board provide other opportunities to mom-owned businesses to market themselves in a collective and cost efficient way. Momporium is an example of just that.
Coordinated by volunteer moms, Momporium will allow mom-owned businesses to display their products and services in a trade show style in unit 640 at Aspen Grove Shopping Center in Littleton on Saturday, March 28. Currently, the exhibitor capacity is full with 32 vendors signed on to participate offering products and services such as stylish handbags and jewelry, candles, Tupperware, skin care, make-up and spa products, food, massages, blankets, inspirational pieces and artwork to name a few.
"This will be a great event that supports locally owned mom businesses. We invite everyone to come and shop and enjoy the company of our moms. When moms connect, things happen", says Roxanne Weaver.
Although vendor spaces are full, Mommy Meeting is keeping a waiting list for other mom-owned businesses interested in being an exhibitor. Additionally, Mommy Meeting is still accepting participants in their goody bags that will be handed out to the first 100 shoppers. The cost to participate in the bags is $10.00. To participate in the vendor bags, interested individuals can email event@mommymeeting.com for more information.
