Ten Year Old Football Team Scores Big Victory off the Field
The 10 year old Warriors Silver football team of Highlands Ranch is scoring points in their community. On Thursday September 12, 2007 the boys began their first of many community service projects by helping out at the Claire Bridge Senior Living Center on South University Blvd. in Highlands Ranch. The twenty ten year olds, with some of their siblings and parents in tow pulled weeds, pruned bushes and trees, picked up trash and replaced mulch that was purchased with the $5.00 each boy earned and then donated to buy replacement mulch. The group worked for about an hour and a half completing the very successful evening of volunteer service. The highlight of the evening however, was when the boys were able to play a friendly game of volleyball with many of the residents as a warm up to the community service!
The team plans to complete several other projects throughout the season, including a root beer float social with the residents at Claire Bridge. It is rumored that a volleyball rematch is in the works!
