Students at Aspen Academy got thier hearts pumping this morning for a fantastic cause. Students from our Early Childhood classes all the way to our 8th graders hopped this morning for our second annual Hop-A-Thon benifiting The American Heart Association.
Officially, 275 jumps were recorded. However, one particularly winded 5th grader stated"I did about 1209 jumps."A third grader added, " I'm glad that we can help people who have heart problems, this was alot of fun."
The Hop-A-Thon was overseen by a special Master of Ceremony. Alex, one of the wonderful 4 year olds in the Junior Kindergarten classdirected the fun. Before all the hopping started he told the story of how he had heart surgery when he was quite young. He told the parents and students he was very greatful to have had the surgery because now he is able to begin hockey training. Alex told everyone he thinks he would like to play for the Calgary Flames which bummed out many the many Avalanch fans in attendance who would like to see Alex skate closer to home.
Pledges from the event totaled over $2000 dollors which will be turned over to the American Heart Association to help fund continuing medical research.
