Contributed by: Mike Sutherland on 3/4/2007

Regis Jesuit High School earned the Professionalism Award for the second consecutive year at last weekend's Colorado State High School Mock Trial Competition held at the Adams County Justice Center in Brighton, Colorado. Regis students Rachel Gerlach, Kathleen Hughes, Christine Murphy, Kachi Pray, Jenna Slate, Lindsay Bourne, Tracy Smith, Chris Tooker, and Steven Mark comprised the team. The Professionalism Award is presented to the team that exemplifies the highest ethical and professional standards during the two day competition. The winning team is selected by a vote of the other participating teams. The Regis team is coached by attorneys David Schott, Cole Wist, and Susan Pray, along with technical director Jim Murphy and Regis faculty sponsor, Eve Dann.

Steven Mark, a member of the Regis team both this year and last year, merited an outstanding attorney award for his performance in the competition. The annual tournament, sponsored by the Colorado Bar Association, featured twenty high school teams from throughout the state who had won or placed in their individual regional competitions during the month of February. Many area judges and attorneys volunteered to preside and score for the tournament. More highlights of the tournament can be found at the Colorado Bar Association web site www.cobar.org.
