David Magoun brings the arts back to life
Contributed by: Artopia Arts Activist on 5/27/2008

If you are planning to head to some of the local art and gallery
shows this summer, make sure you see the work of award-winning
Colorado artist David Magoun of Full Spectrum Arts & Services. He
will be one of the featured artists honored at JAZ B STUDIOS
throughout the summer.

The son of an opera singer and well-known local doctor, art has been
David's passion since he was a small child. "I just had to sketch and
draw," he says. "It didn't even matter what it was at first, but I
later developed a fascination with faces and what makes them all
different." The artistic passion paid off for him-he won his first
art contest at the age of nine, and by the time he was in high school
he was already painting and illustrating professionally.

Over the years, David learned to value his abilities even more, and
went on to win several awards in sci-fi conventions and events. His
work was also proudly displayed in the Ohio Center of Science and
Industry-a commissioned piece called "Valles Marineris," seen by
millions as it toured the United States for four years in their
"Mission to Mars Exhibit." This piece was also used in a
presentation commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Viking Mission
at the Smithsonian Institute.

Mr. Magoun says his favorite medium is acrylic combined with gouache,
and he frequently uses an airbrush for some dazzling effects. He also
excels at digital painting, and appreciates the ease and accuracy of
the medium. He is also involved with many arts and television/film
organizations including the Children's Museum, Boulder Digital Arts,
CFVA (Colorado Film & Video Assoc.), ZAPP, Denver International Film
Festival, Art Exchange, and the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs to
name a few.

David Magoun not only continues to grace us with his beautiful art,
but also passes on his knowledge to our youth. David's continual
support for the love of the arts has brought him to collaborate with
Encore School of the Arts and has generously offered to give a
percentage of the proceeds of all sales to Encore School of the Arts.
His experience taught him to value his abilities and leave his gifts
to the world by encouraging art in others. Through his teaching right
here in Denver, Colorado-where he continues to live-David's art will
live far into the future.

JAZZ B STUDIOS is located at 719 W. 8th Avenue, Denver, Colorado. 80204. For more information, please call David Magoun at 303.798.7906, www.fullspectrumarts.com or email at dave@fullspectrumarts.com
