HRCA Fashion Show & Luncheon Benefits MY House
Contributed by: Valerie Miller on 3/20/2008

The diagnosis is breast cancer. First the shock, then the realization, then the chemotherapy, radiation, and endless poking and prodding, loss of hair or perhaps even reconstructive surgery as your world shatters around you. Oh, for a moment of respite!

Rest and relaxation is exactly what MY House offers-a moment of quiet, beauty, and peace. Situated on a lake and like the reflection of the cottage on the lake, a woman undergoing chemotherapy or radiation can reflect on the woman she really is, not the image she sees in the mirror. This sanctuary on the lake offers complimentary manicures, pedicures, light lunch, and an opportunity to be pampered and relaxed-even if for half a day. The women who volunteer at MY House offer a tender, human, and loving touch. They understand. Lunch, served on pretty dishes with flowers at the table, awaken the chemo-dulled senses.

MY House gives one a sense of inner beauty and awareness of that stunning self that no business can give. The volunteers at MY House completely understand and lovingly offer their services. Jodi Walter, Executive Director of MY House, says "They find that so much of their femininity is stolen from them and they have to redefine themselves from the inside out."

The Highlands Ranch Community Association (HRCA) is holding its annual "In the Pink" Fashion Show and Champagne Luncheon benefiting MY House. The event is a celebration of life! There will not be a dry eye in the house. The "Pink" sparkling wine will be provided by Highlands WineSeller. MY House will organize a raffle. Raffle tickets are $5 each or $20 for five.
