I can breathe now!
Contributed by: Robin Ricci on 9/5/2006

As much as I dreaded being a freshman at Highlands Ranch High School, I now realize that I had nothing to worry about.

I love all of the classes that I have gotten, although I miss my old teachers and I thank them for such a good job that they have done preparing me for high school (especially my social studies teacher, my math teacher, my choir teacher and many other teachers at Cresthill Middle School).

I am so pleased with all of my courses and I am enjoying them all. I love journalism because I completely and totally want to be the person who is covering hard news stories, the person who is out there getting all of the information that you need to make a good story.

I also really enjoy choir; it gives me a way to display my emotions through song. I am also thinking about joining the talent show. Although volleyball didn't quite work out, I am looking forward to trying out for any musicals that are going on. I am also really pumped because I get to go to the big rivalry game between Mountain Vista and Highlands Ranch (Go Falcons!).

I am so ecstatic at how this year is going and I honestly hope it continues! I don't understand how freshmen are already messing around! I mean, how is it cool to be bad and be in the principle's office already?

I think that HRHS is a really awesome school and I am so looking forward to the four years to come. Our first Women's Select Concert is sometime in October and we are going to be doing a fundraiser soon, too! So, if you get an offer to help out the school, please do!

We love music and we want it to be a part of our school forever! Any eighth-graders who are going to be in ninth grade, here is a piece of advice, don't sweat it! I mean, I was so nervous for nothing! I mean, everyone is really nice and, to tell you the truth, nobody can tell that I am a freshman. I seriously found out that if you believe you are all that, people will not think that you are a doormat like I have always been susceptible to being since forever.

I hope that I stay strong in my grades because if I do, and I get straight As every report card, I get to get my permit on my 15th B-Day!!! Yippee!

I have really had a good time and I hope that I never have to leave this school because it is really a great school.

That's so cool, Robin -- I'm glad to hear your first year in high school is going well. Be sure to post news and photos of your upcoming concerts and fundraisers -- I'd love to read all about them.
