The Mission Viejo Neighborhood in Aurora is celebrating the thirty-fifth anniversary of the community with two exhibits shown together that explore the unique and rich history of one of Colorado's first master planned communities developed by the Mission Viejo Company who later were the planners and developers of Highlands Ranch.
One exhibit is at the Mission Viejo Library, (15324 E Hampden Circle, Aurora), and focuses on the history of Mission Viejo California and the Mission Viejo Company. The display was developed by City of Mission Viejo California's Heritage Committee. Here you will see photos from the California suburban city as well as information on how the city was planned and what elements made it such a unique and successful model of suburban planning.
The second exhibit at the Aurora History Museum (located at
15051 East Alameda Parkway Aurora) focuses on the history of the smaller but related development of Mission Viejo a subdivision in Aurora Colorado. This
exhibit highlights the Mission Viejo Company's plans to build a new type of community that created "a city within a city". This exhibition was developed by the Aurora History Museum. Both exhibits will be on display simultaneously from now until June 17, 2007.
Residents of Highlands Ranch will enjoy seeing the history of these sister communities. Please plan on seeing themandhelp celebrate Mission Viejo Aurora's 35th!
The exhibits were underwritten by the following list of sponsors:
