A crowd of almost 800 gathered to celebrate Douglas County School District teachers at the 2007 Apple Awards Banquet on Saturday, March 17.

Nominees, finalists and their supporters enjoyed red carpet treatment, including dinner, dancing and awards.

Theresa Riege
, building resource teacher at Saddle Ranch Elementary, was named the 2007 Apple Awards Recipient.

"I am just a mere representation of all of the amazing educators in our District," says Riege.

She adds, "To be recognized and awarded for doing a job that I love was the highest honor. Being a part of a District that exemplifies "putting kids first" aligns with my own professional goals and makes me proud of being a teacher."

The event raised $80,000. The funds will be used for
Foundation/District initiatives such as teacher classroom grants.
