The talented junior varsity poms team of Highlands Ranch High School placed second in the overall junior varsity team competition during a recent Universal Dance Association Camp, held at the University of Northern Colorado.
Under the direction of Coach
Megan Green, these Falcon dancers worked hard to earn Superior Awards in each routine learned and performed. The team also earned daily Spirit Awards for their enthusiasm and positive attitude. The team faced tough competition from Poms teams throughout Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming who also attended the camp.
"Prior to leaving for camp, the JV team perfected a two-minute routine and earned a Superior Award for their performance the first night of camp," said coach Green. "The individual girls learned a total of four new routines each during the 3-day camp, which they performed on the final day of camp in front of a gym-full of people. This is demanding for dancers, and the girls had positive attitudes and tons of fun!"
In addition to supporting other athletic teams at Highlands Ranch High School during the coming year, the JV Poms will prepare to compete in upcoming regional and state competitions. They also will continue the tradition of volunteering for various community and charity events during the coming year.
