Jim Elliot Christian School held their thirteenth Graduation Celebration Sunday, May 20 th at Highline Community Church in Littleton. There were twenty two seniors in the graduating class. The Valedictorian was Ashley Lenderink; and Abigail Smedly and Stephanie Scott were the Salutatorians. Katy Hunberger was the Graduation speaker.
Many of the graduates have been accepted at various colleges throughout the U.S. Sarah Ingbretson has also received a significant scholastic/basketball scholarship to Hesston College in Hesston, Kansas.
JECS students come from all over the metro Denver area, including Highlands Ranch and Littleton. The school places a strong emphasis on academic and creative arts, as well as community service.
One of the requirements of Jim Elliot Christian School is that each graduate complete at least one cross-cultural mission/service trip during their high school years. This year's seniors have worked in Kazakhstan, India, Philippines, Uganda, and the Lakota Sioux Nation, as well as other countries. Nine students and two teachers will be going to Israel to study reconciliation issues in June.
