It started three weeks ago, The dreaded Senior project was due. Then it was the final choir concert and awards, the theatre awards, senior banquet, senior awards night, the final final, the graduation rehearsal, our graduation ceremony, three other graduations of friends and family, and then the 20+ parties.Whew! What a crazy and amazing three weeks. It is finally over, oh yeah, we haven't had our own party yet!?!?!?!?
Thirty years ago it was much easier. We had our finals and went to our graduation ceremony, where we had 1 valedictorian and she had a 4.0 GPA because that was as high as you could get. (no AP classes worth 5.0). After the ceremony we were loaded into a bus and sent out on an all night boat trip. No parties, except family. Times sure have changed.
Now we look forward to the summer jobs, the summer musical, and the preparation for college. Where did the years go? Only yesterday I was sending her off to kindergarten, with tears in my eyes, knowing she would not want to leave me. I remember her saying, " You can go now mom." My heart broke, but I knew then she would be OK.
To the class of ThunderRidge High School 2007, good luck on all your adventures. Keep in touch with your friends and family, especially those parents that are now "empty nesters". We will miss you. Congratulations!
