The plot in the first
Pirates
movie (
The Curse of the Black Pearl
) to me seemed very boring and the only reason I watch it is because I absolutely adore Captain Jack Sparrow (
Johnny Depp
) in this film.
I find his character extremely intriguing as to how, although he does deceive his so called friends, he always makes up his mind in the nick of time to come back and do the right thing. Although a quote from the movie does contradict how he does feel about those moments. Elizabeth Swan (
Keira Knightley
): "There will come a time when you have a chance to do the right thing."
Jack Sparrow: "I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by." Although I found that line hilarious I knew that there would have to be a time in that movie where he would have to do the right thing and I was correct. I thought he was a coward when he sailed away as the Black Pearl was being attacked by the "Kracken." I knew that he would never let the ship go under, the ship that he worked his whole life to keep alive for it to just sink without him having a say in the matter.
The most horrible thing that could have happened in the movie was when Elizabeth tricked Jack by kissing him and tying him to the Black Pearl! I mean she pretty much condemned him to death after he had saved her life and after all they had been through. I mean, she probably ruined her relationship with Will Turner (
Orlando Bloom
) because he saw her kissing Jack. I thought that was a movie spoiler.
The thing that also made me mad was the ending. People went into that movie so eager to see the sequel to this wonderful series but came out disappointed with the outcome. I mean, I went into that theater and when I saw Jack Sparrow get eaten without knowing whether or not he wasOK was pretty disappointing! Who's idea was it to bring Barboosa back? I mean, didn't Jack kill him? Why not let the one amazing thing Jack did go down in history and not rise back up from the dead?
I am not at all trying to bash this movie. I just think that the plot could have been a lot better. I still can't wait to see the third movie
Pirates: At Worlds End
. I hope you all are as excited as I am! I also hope you all are still going to see
Pirates: Dead Man's Chest
because it was amazing, minus some of its few flaws.
