Fall into art at Douglas County Libraries
Contributed by: Kristin Hayek on 8/27/2008

September brings cooler temperatures, fall leaves, and new art displays at Douglas County Libraries. Philip S. Miller Library (100 S. Wilcox St., Castle Rock) will show the work of Hildegarde Wexler this month. Wexler has lived in Colorado since 1965 and says its mountains, and the beauty of Hawaii inspired her interest in color. She also loves all things Asian and says the study of Japanese brush painting has had a great influence on her work. Wexler's work hangs in offices, galleries, and homes in Hawaii, Colorado, Delaware, and Nevada.

The Neighborhood Library at Lone Tree (8827 Lone Tree Parkway) features art created by Dan Fyles in September. Fyles is a native of Colorado and graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art. He spent several years as a commercial artist for local newspapers and publications. Fyles has always enjoyed mixed media and combines that with his love of nature.

Local Parker artist, Theresa Lugo, will show 20-30 oil and acrylic paintings at the Parker Library (10851 South Crossroads Drive) this month. Lugo says she enjoys experimenting with arbitrary color and texture. While some of her work is more abstract, a relationship to reality is usually retained. Lugo's work has been shown in a number of galleries both nationally and internationally.
