Firehouse Quilts of Colorado, a Highlands Ranch-based charity group meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at Northridge Rec Center from 12:30pm - 4:30pm. The ladies bring their sewing machines and accomplish a lot of cutting, sewing and quilting in just a few hours.
The quilts are donated to local fire departments; the firefighters give them to children they see on their emergency runs.
Firehouse Quilts has once again expanded the area within Colorado where they donate quilts. In July, they gave nearly 75 quilts to small community fire departments and victim advocate groups in Sheridan & Calhan .
Their quilt delivery to the Sheridan Fire Department has a really sweet story. Kathy (holding Winnie the Pooh) and her mother Marie (far right) have been volunteering for Firehouse Quilts for quite awhile. Kathy's son Scott (ON the truck, right above her) volunteers for the Sheridan FD.
If you'd like to donate money, fabric, batting, etc or would like to join us for a Sew Day, please call Dusty at 303-683-6455 or email her at firehousequilts@att.net
