At 12:34 p.m. Jan. 28, a lone male robber entered the Liberty Savings Bank, located at 9131 S. Broadway St. in Highlands Ranch, according to the FBI.
He threatened that he had a weapon and demanded money, the FBI report stated.The robber fled the bank and was seen getting into a cab and leaving the area.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to the robbery and broadcasted the suspect's description as well as the taxi cab information, the report stated. The Englewood Police Department stopped the taxi cab near the intersection of Broadway Street and Hamden Avenue and made contact with the passenger who matched the description of the robber.
Douglas County sheriff's deputies and agents for the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force responded to the scene of the traffic stop and were able to determine that the passenger of the taxi was in fact the robber, the report stated.
The passenger was identified as
Charles James Ulrich, date of birth 01/14/1959. Ulrich was arrested at the scene of the traffic stop and transported by Agents of the RMSSTF. It is anticipated that Ulrich will face charges in Federal District Court for bank robbery, according to the FBI.
