Sheriff's blotter: $4,400 worth of copper stolen

CAR BROKEN INTO
A car was broken into at an apartment complex on the 3000 block of Shady Lane in Highlands Ranch the night of Aug. 24. A woman told a deputy at 6:30 a.m. Aug. 25 her passenger side door window was shattered and a red backpack was taken from her car. The woman estimated the value of the window at $400 and the backpack at $50. Sheriff's deputies had no suspects at the time of the report.

MOUNTAIN BIKE STOLEN
A man reported his mountain bike was stolen from his garage on the 6200 block of Red Canyon Drive in Highlands Ranch at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 25. The man told the deputy he noticed the bike was missing from his garage on the morning of Aug. 23. The man valued the bike at $800. Sheriff's deputies had no suspects at the time of the report.

COPPER STOLEN
The owner of Front Range Tire Recycle, 5765 N. Peterson Road in Sedalia, reported to a sheriff's deputy that someone had stolen the copper wire on his tire-shredding machine at 1 p.m. Aug. 24. The deputy saw no signs of forced entry and the man said he did not think his employees would steal from him. The man said it would cost $2,300 to rewire the machine. Sheriff's deputies had no suspects at the time of the report.

COPPER CABLE STOLEN
A rancher reported to sheriff's deputies someone stole 440 feet of copper cable from his ranch on the 4000 block of U.S. 83 in Franktown at 5:45 p.m. Aug. 22. The man said the cable could have been taken any time between Aug. 8 and Aug. 22 and was being stored about 700 feet from the highway. The rancher said the cable was worth $4,400. Sheriff's deputies had no suspects at the time of the report.

JEEP BROKEN INTO
A woman told sheriff's deputies her Jeep was broken into in front of her house on the 9300 block of S. Wolfe St. in Highlands Ranch at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 19. The Jeep had a soft top and someone broke into the Jeep's center console and stole a flashlight, some sun tan lotion, the Jeep's registration, her keys for work and her ID. Sheriff's deputies had no suspects at the time of the report.
