Reported by Lone Tree Police

DOG LOCKED IN CAR

An officer responded to A report of a dog locked in a car at 4:08 p.m. Aug. 26 in the Macy's parking lot, 8455 Park Meadows Center Drive in Lone Tree. A woman told the officer she was walking through the parking lot when she heard a dog barking. The woman saw a dog locked in a truck parked in direct sunlight with the windows rolled down a few inches. The officer saw the dog trying to climb out the window and did not see any water in the cab. The officer took several temperature readings in the cab that were over 105 degrees. The officer spoke to the dog's owner at 4:40 p.m. who said he had been away for about a half an hour. The officer issued the man a summons for animal cruelty and determined that his license was canceled due to an unpaid traffic ticket. The officer gave the man and his dog a courtesy ride home to Centennial.

DRUNK WOMAN ARRESTED

Police were sent to Light House Diagnostics, 8683 Lincoln Ave. at 4:55 p.m. Aug. 22 on a report of an intoxicated woman who drove to the facility with two small children. The officer spoke to the woman who said her son had gotten his finger stuck in a door jamb and she had taken him to the facility for an X-ray. The officer asked the woman if she had been drinking and the woman told the officer she had one glass of wine before her children came home from school. The woman failed a roadside sobriety test and told the officer she had also taken two Xanax earlier that same day and that she knew she shouldn't combine them with alcohol. The woman was arrested and the children were released to their father.
