$895 IN TOOLS TAKEN
At 6:45 a.m. June 22, deputies were dispatched to a home on the 9800 block of South Castle Ridge Court in Highlands Ranch on a report of a theft. A 49-year-old man told deputies he left his truck unlocked at 1:30 a.m. June 22 and when he returned to it at 6 a.m., he noticed the doors ajar and several tools missing. A few minutes later, he said he found his tool bag in the cul-de-sac. There was no damage to the truck. Total loss of the tools is estimated to be $895.
WOMAN SURPRISED AT $2,320 PHONE BILL
At 9 a.m. June 22, deputies responded to a report of a fraud at a home on the 8500 block of Redstone Street in Highlands Ranch. A 64-year-old woman told deputies she received a call from a collection agency for an AT&T cell phone bill totaling $2,320. The collection agency told the woman the phone service was opened using her social security number and the phone had been used in Brooklyn, New York. The woman said she has never been to New York. The case was still under investigation at the time the report was filed.
OVERNIGHT BAG TAKEN FROM CAR
At 1 p.m. June 22, officers responded to Walmart, 6675 Business Center Drive in Highlands Ranch, on a report of a theft in the store's parking lot. A 44-year-old woman told deputies she left a reusable bag in the back of her car while she shopped in Walmart for an hour. When she returned to the car, the bag was missing. It contained a Kodak camera, hairbrush, wash cloth, makeup bag and prescription pills belonging to the woman's father. The woman told deputies she thinks she forgot to lock the car doors when she went into the store. Total value of the missing items is estimated to be $370.
MUSTANG BANDIT
At 11 p.m. June 21, deputies responded to a theft at a home on the 1800 block of Spring Water Lane in Highlands Ranch. A 40-year-old woman told deputies she was outside her home at 10 p.m. when she saw a loud, cream colored Ford Mustang driving up and down the street. She said a blonde man was walking on the sidewalk and when the Mustang passed him, he waved to the driver. At 11:45 p.m. she said she tried locking her car with her remote key from inside the house, but when it wouldn't lock, she went outside and saw the front passenger door open. She noticed the glove box was also open and her purse was gone. There was no damage to the car, but the loss of the purse is estimated to be $125.
BEACH BAG TAKEN AT SWIMMING POOL
At 4:10 p.m. June 21, deputies responded to a report of a theft at Palimino Park, 6700 Palimino Parkway in Highlands Ranch. A 50-year-old woman told deputies she was sitting at the pool's cafe and left a beach bag on the back of a chair for 10 minutes. When she returned to the chair, the bag was missing. She immediately canceled her credit cards and cell phone service, but lost an iPod. Deputies canvassed the pool and cafe area, but could not locate the bag.
