Highlands Ranch residents are invited to attend a Parkway Fence Replacement Plan Information Meeting, hosted by the Metro District of Highlands Ranch, on Thursday August 23 at 6 p.m. at the Metro District Office Building, 62 W. Plaza Drive.
Metro District staff has researched a number of alternative fence materials and styles, and they will explain the phased plan to replace parkway fencing along major roads over the next 25 years.
The Metro District owns and maintains 57 miles of landscaping adjacent to major roads. More than 41 miles of stained cedar fence frames our two, four and six-lane roads. The parkway fence is owned and maintained by the Metro District.
The Metro District's annual staining and repair program has helped extend the life of the existing fence. However, some areas are more than 25 years old, and the fence has exceeded its useful life as well as its ability to be effectively repaired. The fence also borders more than 2,000 residential lots.
In most cases, the fence is on Metro District property, and the District's property line may actually extend into the resident's yard by up to 18 inches. The fence replacement involves coordination that will include notification to homeowners that back to this fence.
For more information about this meeting, please call the Metro District at 303-791-2710. The Metro District of Highlands Ranch has served the community for 26 years, providing municipal services to the community's 89,000 residents.
