The idea first proposed by community volunteer
Jeff Alvis
, and supported by the Highlands Ranch Metro District, Douglas County Libraries and the Highlands Ranch Park & Recreation Foundation, will move one step closer to reality on Tuesday, July 1 when ground is broken for the Highlands Ranch Veterans Monument (HRVM).
The event will be held from 6 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. at the future Monument site in Civic Green Park, steps from the Highlands Ranch Library entrance.Scheduled presenters and entertainers include
Steffan Tubbs
, 850 KOA Morning Show Anchor and Highlands Ranch resident, HRVM committee members, as well as members of the Highlands Ranch Concert Band and the Highlands Ranch Community Chorus.
"We invite people throughout the community to join us for this special groundbreaking event," said HRVM Committee Chair Jeff Alvis."We are proud to honor the veterans and active members of the military who have served our nation. The committee members also appreciate everyone who has supported the efforts to build the Monument for our community. To date, we have raised $91,680."
The Monument, to be built in Civic Green Park in the heart of Highlands Ranch, will pay tribute to United States veterans and current service members who served or are serving our country.
For more information about donating to the Monument, and to view Dedication Tile samples, please visit
