The Network DC and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DSCO) are partnering on a new program, DCSO, which offers a glimpse into the day-to-day public safety services provided by the Sheriff's Office.
The intent of this program is to give residents an insider's view on what officers do on the job other than the typical duties you may see them do, such as patrolling and responding to emergencies. There are numerous operations that keep Douglas County a safe place to live, work and play.
"This is a professionally produced program featuring so many critical and interesting departments in the Sheriff's Office that would be of interest to the public," said Ed Fox, member of Sheriff Weaver's Public Safety Advisory Committee.
A preview of the program is available online at
www.douglas.co.us/networkdc/Latest_News.html. The first 24-minute episode premiers on the Douglas County Television network channel 8 on Friday, July 25 at 7 p.m. Non-subscribers to Comcast or Qwest cable services may also view DCSO on the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Web site,
www.dcsheriff.net.
The first episode of DCSO is divided into four segments:
1. Bomb Robot - Learn more about the County's Bomb Robot.
2. Detentions - Get an insider's look at the Robert A. Christensen Justice Center's jail facility and some of the new technology.
3. Crime Files - The Douglas County Coroner gets an unusual call from a construction site.
4. Concerned Citizens - A recent tragic event reminds us of the importance of witness protection.
