Shred-a-Thon and electronics recycling event
Contributed by: Douglas County on 10/9/2008

The Douglas County Commissioners and the Douglas County Sheriff's office will host a residential-only Shred-a-thon and Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, November 15, 7:00 a.m. until Noon, in the Douglas County Justice Center parking lot, 4000 Justice Center Way in Castle Rock (approximately I-25 and Founders Meadows Parkway exit).

Shredding of personal documents and electronic recycling is made possible thanks to sponsors Shred-It™ and TechnoRescue™, who, with Douglas County, 9News and Colorado Community Newspapers are supporters of Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.

Donations will be accepted on behalf of Crime Stoppers and 100 percent of all contributions will be given to Crime Stoppers, a non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage greater responsibility and involvement of the public in the awareness, control and prevention of serious crime.

For personal documents shredding, residents may bring up to three boxes or bags of paper. Unlimited, yet specific personal items for electronics recycling will be accepted. For each recycled cell phone one hour of talk time will be donated to soldiers abroad via a pre-paid calling card donated by Cell Phones for Soldiers.

For more information on this event, which items will be accepted for electronics recycling and on how to fight against identity theft and on this event, please go to www.douglas.co.us/Shred-a-thon.
