Highlands Ranch Metro District staff receive professional awards


Two members of the Highlands Ranch Metro District staff were recently recognized with awards recognizing their outstanding service among both special districts and in the parks and recreation field.

The Highlands Ranch Metro District's Director of Finance & Administration Bruce Lebsack, was recognized by the Special District Association of Colorado (SDACO) with the Distinguished Manager Award.

For the past 27 years, Lebsack has been sharing his extensive knowledge with the staff, board and citizens of the Metro District. During his time with the Metro District, he has been part of more than $300 million worth of capital construction projects. Under Lebsack's direction, the Metro District's finances have gone from unrated to a AA+ standard & Poor's rating.

Lebsack has also worked on many important partnerships with surrounding communities, including negotiating an intergovernmental agreement with Reunion Metropolitan District and creating partnerships with the City of Littleton and the Littleton Fire Protection District. In addition to his work with the Metro District, Lebsack has served as a member of and past chairman of the Colotrust Board of Trustees and the Governor's Advisory Committees on Governmental Accounting and Municipal Bonds.

In November 2008, the Metro District Board of Directors honored Bruce by renaming the community tennis center the Bruce Lebsack Tennis Center for his unparalleled contributions to the community.

Metro District Recreation Supervisor Jill Nunes, CPRP, CYSA, recently received the 2009 Presidents Award at the annual Colorado Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) Conference. Jill was recognized for her ongoing commitment to the association including: Serving as awards chair for three years, where she helped to streamline the awards process; being the Colorado Rockies Baseball Skills state director for three years; the youth sports committee chair for three years; conference committee for many years, a CPRA Leadership Forum Committee member, and for participating in the mentor program - both as a professional and as a mentor.

Jill was recognized for being a long-time Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics (CARA) supporter, and currently serves as Chair of the CARA Executive Board. In addition to her job responsibilities with the Metro District, Jill serves as the Chair of the Foothills Park and Recreation District Board of Directors.
