Douglas County Cultural Council Makes Recommendations for Arts, Culture, Heritage and Science Funding
July 10, 2007... The Board of Douglas County Commissioners approved the Douglas County Cultural Council's (DCCC) recommendations for distribution of $317,876 Tier III Douglas County funds to 2007-8 Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) applicants providing arts, culture, heritage and science to Douglas County residents.
This year, 35 different organizations applied for 42 grants requesting a total of $490,672. Of the total $317,876 in SCFD funds, $300,225 will go directly to organizations providing performances and workshops in our community and/or in Douglas County schools. The remaining $17,651 was set aside for public art and will be added to the $10,207 set aside from last year's distribution.
The DCCC is currently working on an update to the Douglas County Cultural Plan with an estimated completion in the Fall 2007. The update will include a public art component along with a program in which the $17,651 reserved for public art will be distributed in Douglas County.
