Douglas County Commissioner Melanie Worley Re-appointed to RAQC and LGAC

Governor Bill Ritter announced the re-appointment of Douglas County Commissioner Melanie Worley to serve another three-year term on the Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator re-appointed Worley to serve on the Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC) through 2009.

"I am energized by these re-appointments as it comes at a time when strong local government representation is more vital than ever before," said Commissioner Worley. "We must do everything possible to retain the cleanest air and water we can. My focus during these terms will be on collaborative efforts to advance public education and clean air and water advocacy initiatives that will help us today and build a foundation for the future."

The RAQC is the lead agency for developing and implementing plans for the maintenance and enforcement of air quality standards in the Denver metro area as well as conducting public education and advocacy programs.

The LGAC is chartered to provide advice and recommendations that assist the EPA in developing a stronger partnership with local governments through building state and local capacity to deliver environmental services and programs.
