Douglas County Mailing Property Tax Statements
Contributed by: Sharon Jones on 1/17/2008

Douglas County Treasurer, Sharon Jones, states that the county treasurer's office expects to begin mailing property tax statements for tax year 2007 due in 2008, on January 17. If not received by the first week of February, contact the Treasurer's office at 303.660.7455.

Tax statements are mailed to the property owner or their designated agent per C.R.S. 39-10-103. Billing information will also be transmitted electronically to mortgage companies and tax services at their request. Owners with an escrow account, concerned about their mortgage company paying their taxes, should contact their lender to inquire if they need to forward a copy of the tax statement or if the lender has requested billing information from the county.

Tax statements include two payment coupons, one for a full or first half payment and another for a second half payment. Property taxes may be paid in full by April 30, or in two installments with the first half due by February 29 and the second half due by June 15. IMPORTANT NOTE: While the Treasurer's office does accept USPS postmark for timely payment, many local post offices send their mail to Denver for cancellation. This means a delay of one or two days in the postmark. Colorado Statute requires us to return late payments for interest, so please mail early to avoid delay, inconvenience and interest.

Taxpayers may also use MasterCard or Visa credit cards, or an E-check drawn on their checking or savings account to make payments online or by telephone. There is a convenience fee, which is paid entirely to the third party vendor to cover their processing expenses.

When paying via telephone, at 1.800.607.4481, you will be voice prompted through step-by-step instructions. Be certain to record your confirmation number as proof of payment.

To pay online, go to www.douglas.co.us/treasurer and complete the following steps:

·Choose and complete one of the Search Options in the Property Tax Inquiry, then click the Search button.

·Click on the Tax Details link for your parcel. You may also print a copy of your initial property tax statement by using the Tax Statement link.

·Click the Pay Taxes Online button.

·From the Payment Options screen, choose your method of payment then read and follow the instructions, filling in the information fields and moving through the screens.

·Print the last page or record the confirmation number as proof of payment.

If you have any questions, please call the Douglas County Treasurer's Office at 303.660.7455 or email us at dctreasurer@douglas.co.us.
