"Matt and Ryan were student of mine in Team Sports, Individual Sports and Strength and conditioning. Matt has returned to HRHS to talk to my students. The first time was Dec 2005 and he talked about the New Orleans Recovery. The second he came this XMas Dec 2006 and talked about his tour in Iraq. Ryan (marine) came in May of 2006 and talked about his tour in Iraq. My classes sent 80 letters to either Matt or Ryan in Oct. We are currently writing and planning on sending over a 100 letters. Students and teachers at HRHS will be asked next week to write to graduates of HRHS who are serving in the military. Susan Martin (office staff) and myself will be collecting letters and donations for the soldiers. At this time we will be writing to Matt Mobley, Ryan Mobley, Ryan Vreeland and Adam Lewis. There are a few more graduates that we will add to this list." -Tandy Ortiz, Matt's former teacher at Highlands Ranch High School

"Matt is doing fine. He is now recovering from his injuries at LSA Anaconda outside of Balad, Iraq. The docs had to cut him open in order to remove some of the shrapnel that was lodged inside his body. But he is on his way to a full recovery with no permanent damage, which is great. He will be out of the fight for a while, but eventually he will be back with his unit on full duty and everyone is thankful for that." -Lance Cpl. Ryan Mobley, Matt's twin brother
