Food is among the most basic of necessities for life, and fortunately many of us have plenty in our cupboards. But not everyone is so lucky. There are families and individuals in Douglas and Elbert counties who worry about where they'll get their next meals.
The Douglas/Elbert Task Force is here to help. The Task Force's food bank provides the staples to those who don't have the means to purchase groceries at the local supermarket. But the food bank can only operate with your support and donations.
The economy continues to have a negative impact on those living in Douglas and Elbert counties. I n the first 6 months of 2009, the Task Force has served 10 percent more people and provided 90 percent more in assistance than the same period in 2008-mostly food. And the percentage of new clients (those who have
never sought TF services) per month is close to 18 percent.
Help your neighbors in need by donating food to the Douglas/Elbert Task Force. And while you are there, make sure to check out the Task Force Thrift Store. From clothing to home decor, you'll find quality merchandise at the store.
A special half-price sale is taking place Aug. 8 at the store during its regular hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sales from the store support the services provided by the Task Force, such as clothing, temporary housing and food.
The Task Force is located at 404 Jerry St. in Downtown Castle Rock. For more information, call 303-688-1114 or visit
