Firehouse Quilts (FHQ) is a local charity that makes and donates snuggle quilts to Colorado Fire Departments, Action Care Ambulance Service, Denver Health's 'Newborns in Need' program, Douglas/Elbert Task Force and battered women's shelters.
Around 800 snuggle quilts are donated to these organizations yearly.
Over 45 very active volunteers make the snuggle quilts throughout the year for Firehouse Quilts. Firefighters give our quilts to children they see on their emergency runs.
Occasionally, we are contacted by the parents of a child that received one of our quilts.

Here is a 'thank you' we received from the mother of a recent recipient:
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the quilt that my 16 month old son received on an ambulance ride to Children's Hospital. He fell through a window well and the metal grate that was on top of it landed on top of him, lacerating his liver. He spent 24 hours in ICU and then another 2 nights (3 total) at Children's Hospital. He had your quilt with him the whole time. I've attached a picture of Hunter I took during the last night at the hospital.
He is now home and is going to be okay.
Thank you very much!
Melissa Duncan

Firehouse Quilts is a non-profit organization based in Highlands Ranch, CO. and welcome donations of cotton fabric, batting, quilting instructional books. Monetary donations are always needed, especially for our largest expense, batting.
Volunteers are honored twice a year for their extraordinary commitment with an Appreciation Event in late summer and a Christmas party in December. We are always in need of nice door prizes (gift cards) at these two events if you would like to contribute in that way.
